Looked real nasty, that barrier did not look up to the task either. Considering it's an F1 graded circuit.

Yeah the driver was in critical condition but said to pull through. What I think happened is he didn't realize the race was over and over corrected trying to avoid the car in front of him and went head on into the wall.

Re: Holy shit...
well ive been a "corner worker", as you americans say it, for 5 years now and never seen anything like that. had a few warm-up lap crashes on cold tyres and a few break down after the race but that was unreal.

I've had only one serious incident where the driver was hospitalized but released the next day.

Marshal. I mean ive had very serious incidents but between the clearly substandard barrier and the ignorant driver nothing quite like this.

Marshall, worker, same thing. We call them both here.
I remember you showed me that video of your dad responding to the car rolling on your first day. That was pretty big, but not like that.

Lucky in both cases for their to be no injuries or worse. I'd also Like to Pay my respects to the historic mini racer, Christian Devereux, who died at donington the other weekend in a completely blameless incident. Its a dangerous game.
