Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
I'm thinking of trying to cobble together (with anyone who wants to help) a WTCC series. This is a real series, licensed by the FIA: http://www.fiawtcc.com
I have been able to find the following cars in Forza4 that match those run in the series:
(speed, handling, acceleration, launch, braking) (1-50, 1-100, top speed, 1-50 Gs, 1-100 Gs)
1. Honda Mugen Civic Type R (S669) - (6.9, 6.5, 7.9, 6.7, 6.80) (4.8, 9.2, 177, 1.12, 1.16)
2. Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo (S668) - (7.1, 6.3, 7.8, 6.6, 6.3) (4.6, 9.5, 184, 1.10, 1.10)
3. Seat Leon (S675) - (7.0, 6.3, 8.0, 6.9, 6.7) (5.0, 9.4, 182, 1.10, 1.08)
They run some very diverse tracks from around the world and have a very interesting points system, with two 5-10 min. qualifying sessions followed by two VERY short races (usually 10-12 laps, depending on the circuit). And you get significant points for qualifying position. No pits necessary.
Even though some are fake, they would be one's we don't often see. Here are my track ideas:
Marrakech = Sedona Full Circuit (non-oval) Reverse
Hungary = Nurburg GP Full
Austria = Alps Stadplatz
Portugal = Rally DiPositano
Argentina = Iberian Full
Sonoma = Infineon
Shanghai = Tsukuba Full
Macau = Camino Viejo Full
Just wondering if anyone has ever proposed or though about proposing such a series and what your thoughts would be on the cars, classes, and tracks? Thanks.

Re: Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
Throw in a couple of VW sciroccos and we've got the old PTCC series back. We ran it on Sunday's at 8.30 pm UK time. Was a great series! Was a team (2 drivers) and individual championship.
Obviously I'm constrained by time, but would be interested if the time suits.

Re: Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
Hey Owen,
I was trying to keep the series as faithful to the real one as possible, but the good news is that the Seat is actually a VW. It's a It wholly owned subsidiary of the German VW Group. It's just made and marketed in Spain. I think you might find it drives and feels good enough to pass as a scirocco, So far, it's the one I feel most comfortable in. Do I smell a team possibility? (Soul Glow Motorsports, sponsored by NASCAR Europe). lol.
Points are allocated just as in F1 and there is a team component. Difference is, there is much more emphasis on qualifying, with two sessions. Points awarded. Given Forza's in race shortcomings, I think that's a real appealing format.

Hey October - I wasn't trying to change this, was just reminiscing about a real good series that we had. Some really close races and the cars were so evenly matched, thanks to a formula provided by Delzaster (he does some good things other than rolling cheese and drinking cider LOL).
We ran two sessions with a reverse grid in the 2nd race.
Soul Glow Motorsports sponsored by NASCAR Europe - Lemonjello as the no1 driver LOL

Don't worry Russ, I'm not jumping ship before I've been fully integrated
I'm with you on those damn Alps too - hate them with a passion, but will race it nevertheless

I personally want nothing to do with that soul glow stuff. It was a joke making fun of NASCAR and its fans. You will never see me in anything souls glow. So not voodoo - more like October of voodoo... Lol

Oh Hogge, cone on - I love and watch NASCAR despite not being able to turn right (which is ironic for a far-right sport lol). I know you have a sense of humour so Glow with the flow dude. (Did you like that???)
And remember - voodoo is a form of dark magic that originates from the ancestry of LemonJello Smith LOL

Re: Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
What I love about this site is the diversity. I mean it's everywhere, and it's very cool, IMO.
OK, now back to poking fun....
Harry, NOW who's being the sourpuss?!?! If you can't poke fun at yourself, it's a sign of weakness. Owen is not generalizing about NASCAR fans (although I did, sorry....doh!...but I AM one, well, mostly, er, sorta, eh, used to be...mostly). For instance, if I were to say that F1 (or the FIA for that matter) has paved the way for female drivers, would anyone, seriously, not laugh me out of town and agree with that statement? I'd certainly hope not. Is it something to be proud of? Not really. It just is what is it is. It's not like they hate women. I mean, just look at the grid girls! See! lol. George Bush and Roger Ailes didn't invent the term "NASCAR Dad" with Serena Williams in mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_dad
And Russ, I don't want to speak for Owen, and I don't want to EVEN joke about (or take seriously) your suggestion that I'm trying to "steal" Owen. I'll leave that whole concept dead and in the past...where it should be. Both of us, I think, understand that. Freewill still exists around here, no? (Unless you work for the IRS, or the State Department, like the guys on Top Gear Found out). "Teams" like Voodoo "white-guys-not-from-Louisiana" Motorsports and Rolling Thunder "Skating Rink Driving School" Motorsports are more like High School cliques. Fun, just don't take it too seriously. I'd run with Owen in anything, anywhere. Same with you for that matter. Same with Harry, Stroker, TRex, Rowdy, Sniper, Chelsea...the list goes on and on. Except for maybe Del because he talks with a funny accent and everything. And likes that Communist sport, soccer.

Re: Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
And why no Alps Russ? Just because Harry can kick everyone's butt there is no reason to hate the track. All I'm trying to do is put a few tracks in that we don't see much. But, I appreciate your comment nonetheless. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the fake tracks either, but it's what we got in Forza. Yet ANOTHER reason to consider running F1! (Sorry, I can't stop). Otherwise, we are stuck in a never-ending Hockenhein-Mugello-Road Atlanta-Silverstone-Montegi (or Suzuka)-Catalunya-Road America-Infineon-Laguna Seca-Nurburg type cycle. Yet, even though I've been here for a short time, I've never seen a race at IndyGP, and that IS a real track.
So, Russ, if you can find another track in Forza that is a road course, yet very fast, and surrounded by huge snow-capped mountains and a little village (like the real race in Austria), then I'm all ears.
In any case, this is probably not going to be proposed anytime soon, unless a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday Suddenly opens up. I could do it on non-F1 Sundays I guess, but it looks as if (due to work) my racing will be limited to these days. Fridays are gone, I think, with the new JGTC Series, whatever that is...non-existent one or real life one. Saturdays are FIA GT1/3 of yesteryear.

I wish Forza 4 had the Chevy Cruze and BMW 320i just for WTCC. I've often thought of BTCC racing series.

Re: Thoughts on FIA WTCC Series?
Yea, I know. You seem to be in good company too. The other thing I had in mind was a F1 Safety Car series on all the F1 past or present tracks in Forza. But I just can't seem to get those suckers (Merc SLS AMG) to handle right. I think TC would almost be a must, as Mercedes nearly demands when they send you the car. lol. But they do have a sweet sound and are really very fast otherwise.
