Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full
Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full - 08/19/2013
Schedule of Events
•9:00 PM EST - 7-lap Practice Stint - If you'd like to do this show up promptly, I will be starting it on time for obvious reasons and assume anyone not there prefers not to run some practice laps. This will be a random grid.
•9:20 PM EST - 3-lap Qualifying - (2 flying laps) - Please be here 5 minutes in advance if you want to run. At 9:15 we will assume everybody that wants to run is in the lobby, and wait a few minutes for stragglers but will not be waiting for stragglers at the 9:20 mark or further. Anyone in after that will go to the back of the grid without a chance at qualifying points. Those who don't have a clean qualifying lap of any kind get a 50% points hit for their Race 1 Finish so make sure to get a clean lap on your out lap no matter how slow you have to go! One point will be awarded to the Top 6 qualifiers.
•9:30 PM EST - Race 1 - 21 Laps - Pit Window Laps 10 through 12 - Order of Grid is Reverse Qualifying Order
•Approx. 10:15 PM EST - Race 2 - 7(may change) Laps - Order of Grid is Combined Lobby Points (Qually and Race 1)
Good luck Gentlemen. After the race, you have until the next week's race is begun to post your race photo or short race night summary to gain an extra point in the standings.
Track Notes
Pit Entry - The entry for this one is a bit tricky, please go in nice and controlled so you don't ruin your race.
Chicane offs - It's o.k. to catch some of the grass/dirt on the left and or right side with one tire as this is fairly common and doesn't result in a dirty lap. However, if you find yourself going completely off due to a braking mistake please be prepared to be patient when coming back on, a lot of times you will get the quicksand grass and it will stop your car cold, just try and avoid going directly back on to the track. If you make your way back on to the right side of the track carefully you should be o.k. but look for other drivers.

Thanks for putting this up Luongo
Great video, it made me laugh because you just sat there for a second when you were done spinning.

Re: Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full
Chelsea is considered a notified absence as he hasn't been around all week and he'd surely be communicating with us if he could. Looks like a small lobby tonight.

Driver of the Week: Staceunited
staceunited with a very good performance here with a 4th place finish in race 1 and a 3rd place finish in Race 2. He avoided the incidents that have crept up on him in weeks 1 and 2 and it paid off as he ran some consistent laps. Good work man.

I figured it was that, glad everything is ok. Yeah I know it's freaking late over there. Maybe some day you guys can do a Brits only series while all of us are taking our morning showers.luongo27 wrote:Shame I missed this one, woke up about half an hour late despite multiple alarms. I'm mostly bummed that you missed it because this would have likely been another win or podium at the very least so you'd have a nice lead going into some of the more speed oriented tracks... Like OLD MULSANNE this week. Man that is going to be nuts. Question, what kind of laps were you running there? My fastest was a 2:06.4xx during the race, that was significantly faster than I'd run in practice.

Re: Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full
Well another fun filled weeknight of racing Good clean racing all around, but I have to say the crews are the ones screwing up ! One week my camera guys drop the ball then last night the spotters for myself and Hellisan must have been enjoying some of thel ocal German brew as they missed the call when I told my spotter I was letting Helli by and to tell them ....well he didn't get the message and we collected, he got the worst of it all though with engine damage that surely set him back in the field when it was all done. Lots of fun though, too bad about the drunken spotters --- I blame it on the brews

More of the same for me. Bringing up the rear driving around the track alone while waiting for the leaders to lap me.

Re: Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full
Overall I over preformed in my eyes. Taking pole and winning the 2nd race was something I did not expect at all. I even had a chance in race one but a driving error cost me the top spot. I think if Helli and Fastlane had not gotten into each other race 2 I would have been in trouble. I'm not complaing though!

Re: Week 3 - Nurburgring GP Full
In Quallifying I had an instance of having a dirty 2nd lap so I had to run a careful third lap and qualified second. I was totally happy with that. The first straight and turn saw me lose a spot to Sniper and I just worked on following him through the field. Sniper and I pulled in behind FASTLANE at the end of Lap 2 and started the dual BMW attack (LOL poor Luongo). Sniper got past FASTLANE about half a lap later and I was able to get by a couple turns after that to take off after Sniper, who was extremely fast last week so i wasn't exactly expecting to catch him.
With Fastlane still on my six, this happened:
Kudos to Sniper for keeping his car straight.... Not many people I'd feel safe driving past like that as they spun . That allowed myself and FASTLANE to get by and I was able to put some distance between us. I got hot and had my best lap at this track during the race, and was running as many 2:06's as 2:07's which i was very happy with.
I was able to win this one going away as a result of the spin and getting warm thereafter.
RACE 2: Different story. I lost a place right off the bat and FASTLANE was driving much better this time. Much harder to pass. At the end of the back straight approaching the chicane I had a passing opportunity but it wasn't a good one and with Week 1's bad decision still fresh in my mind, I decided not to call a pass and backed out. At that very moment FASTLANE decided to let me by, hitting the brakes as I pulled in behind him and once again, it was FASTLANE and Helli collecting each other. I got the worst of it, and started looking to let people go by because my engine was hurt.
GREAT RACE guys I had a great time. Here's a pic of me almost ending my first race early against the barrier, I actually pulled back and made a little right turn in the nick of time... In the replay it keeps making a hitting the wall sound, so I got lucky I guess...
