Re: What assists do you use?
AUTOBRAKE - OFF
ABS - OFF
STABILITY - OFF
TCS - OFF
SHIFTING - MANUAL W/CLUTCH
LINE - OFF
I will probably turn the line to braking only when i compete in events to reduce the chance of braking late.

Re: What assists do you use?
The only assist I use is ABS...mainly because of the good ole microsoft wheel/pedals setup. The brake pedal just never has felt right to me,not enough feel/feedback etc.

If you cut a stress ball up, you can place it under the pedal mechanism to add resistance to the brake. I have done this and it works. Down side: Due to the added force required for braking you will need to secure the pedals or else they will just slide around on the floor.

Re: What assists do you use?
No assists, no line, manual w/clutch. Also use a Fanatec with 900° of rotation and if it's a car that has it, full on H-Pattern and clutch pedal.

Re: What assists do you use?
I'm new and run in Monday night's Porsche Cup.
I'm a purist, so I don't use any assists (manual paddle shifters). Most formula racers don't use stick, but many stock-ish cars still have the pedal (which would probably help me on standing starts for sure). I noticed the foot clutch, in the real in-car Porsche Cup video, seems to only be used on downshift, and the shifter is sequential.
I also run cockpit view. I just can't reconcile (in my own head) trying to mimic the experience of really racing (which I have dabbled in) while sitting atop the car. However, I don't begrudge anyone their personal preference, as this is a game and should be fun.
My personal preferences are usually reflected in my lap times.

Re: What assists do you use?
Nothing. At all. Never. Sometimes no HUD in cockpit, but usually chase close to be more aware of surroundings.

Re: What assists do you use?
Drifting: All assists off, manual w/ clutch, full HUD, cosmetic damage, fuel and tire wear on, close chase camera w/ motion camera effects disabled.
Racing: All assists off, manual (rarely w/ clutch), realistic HUD (no speedometer, no map, lap and place markers on, split and ahead times on, rear view mirror on (in hood camera view only), cockpit view, simulation damage/fuel/tire on.

No assists, no lines, manual transmission with clutch on a button, cockpit view only, all difficulty as hard as it gets! That's where the game gets fun!

Re: What assists do you use?
Yes it does Bronn. Glad you consider anything but cockpit view an "assist" (traction control shouldn't be in the game, unless built into the car, like people who play GRID2 will experience).
I'm glad some distinguished their view. Bronn, I think some people (who try both) are slowly coming to realize that running cockpit and no breaking line may cost you about 2-3 seconds per track. It's the drivers who run fast with absolutely no assists in cockpit view that I admire most. Real drivers don't have heads up displays, have cars that don't slide, sit atop their cars when they drive, or see a line on track in the corners. Of course, they have more peripheral vision, but not much.
Wish we could have a series where all the assists were removed and cockpit view was forced. I know that was tried, but people got scared or something. I guess they wanted speed over authenticity. But it's a game, so, in the end, do what is fun for you. However, more than giving "slower" drivers faster cars, making all assists even and views even would really show and truly honestly rank the talent. (Not that I'd be much better, probably, lol).

hmmm i will have to get one of those so i can stiffen up both my pedals...... any idea for making the wheel itself act more realistic? lol

Hello to all at RR, I use the braking line if that option is available, otherwise no additional assists.
