Road Race Showcase - Road America - 35 LAPS

One of the oldest and most distinguished of all the tracks in North America is Road America, a road course situated near Elkhart Lake in the scenic woodlands of Wisconsin. Much like Laguna Seca, Road America was conceived during a time when racing on public roads was becoming too dangerous to justify. Pressure from race organizers and government officials led to the abandonment of racing on the roads near Elkhart Lake, and ultimately to the construction of Road America in the span of just five months. The course opened in 1955, and the first race was won by legendary driver Phil Hill in a Ferrari Monza, after a hair-raising final lap that was a duel of nerves with fellow racer Sherwood Johnston’s Jaguar D-type—an auspicious sign of the exciting racing that would unfold over the years at the track. Unlike virtually every course of its age, Road America has managed to maintain its original four mile, 14-turn layout (except for the addition of a chicane during modern AMA races)—despite a major renovation of the track facilities in 1992, all of the elevation changes and sharp turns have been preserved, making Road America a course that must be carefully studied to master. Highlights includes Turn 6, located under the Corvette Bridge, where a small hill obstructs the view to the blind left-hander beyond, and the steep climb up the final straight that makes overtaking through speed alone a formidable struggle. Road America is host to many different race series, including the Trans-Am series, challenging drivers of a variety of cars and motorcycles with its sharp turns and hilly terrain.

Due to the new schedule , I'm gonna miss this one

this moveing of races is bull, it was one way at the start, now your changeing it 2 better your outcome harry and that jr leage bullshit... just my 2 cents...

If the drivers don't want the schedule change then it wont happen so please can the current drivers vote below. There are 2 things to consider when voting

1. Who will volunteer to run the race when RR Harry Hogge is away
2. This series hasn't been 1 of our best since it started and we thought you guys might like it to speed up a little as it was only made 2 weekly due to Danbre.

I vote to do it weekly. There is not much going on right now but fords on Monday weekly.

Don't really mind and i know it will inconvenience a couple of people for this week but i'll go with weekly.

Can I be added to this series? I know it's late and all, but Harry and I had a deal (F1 for ALMS) and he signed, so I'd like to sign also. My preference is:

With that car, I'll run with any team that will have me, as a privateer, or however best you think I'll fit in. You know I'm slow, but you have some GREAT and AUTHENTIC tracks left, many with double points. If I don't meet the 70% rule, I don't care. It's just for the fun of it. This was a great idea for a series from the start. I'm very grateful for all the work Harry and Del have done, the former with administration and the latter with admin and testing of the cars to ensure closeness.

P.S. - Does "TOP RESTRICTOR" mean you just leave all the restrictions on?

The more, the merrier my friend! I should have F1 tomorrow - will need to practice with you guys Saturday after ALMS race.

Now he is in p1 with me. I can send setup to him.

I got an open source setup off the web and it seemed to be ok with some tweaking. 1:53.24 at Road America was my best lap. Not great, but a start.

Love to try any setups you are willing to send. Speed2 has an entire division for that, no?

The cockpit view in the Lola is horrendous but I refuse to switch. I'd have love to run the Audi TDI, but I'm sure you considered all angles and seems like there was a fair amount of compromise just to get this thing started. If you include Le Mans, the ALMS series (except for the IndyCar series' diversity of tracks) has the potential to be the deepest and richest on the board. Too bad the NASCAR mafia gets it next year.

Racing is still on schedule for Tomorrow unless I am notified otherwise. All but one vote has been for weekly races.

I will be inviting all into qualifying room around 8:35-8:40 tomorrow. Lets make it happen! The Road Race Showcase!

I'm in for weekly just hoping it wont interfere with some of my hockey games but will let you know if I can't make it. See you tonight for this one though.
