Blancpain Silverstone Race Review(57 cars!)
Packed schedlue last Sunday, here is what was on:
The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup
Was a lot better than i thought it was going to be, good close racing and some entertaining bumps and spins.British GT academy winner Jann Mardenborough was racing too.
So distracted by watching i didn't break out the camera, i'll put a ref pic from www.automobilsport.com below.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series
Was easily the most eventful race of the day despite being one of the shorter ones. It also had star power as red bull genius Adrian Newey was piloting the number one V.I.P entry. Clearly unhappy with the balance of the car, Adrian decided to re-design the front end half way round the warm up lap. The new improved car limped back to the pits, leaking vital fluids on it's way. This caused a delay to the start and the car to be retired.
Once the race eventually got under way it only lasted a mere nine minutes before a huge crash bought about a red flag. The crash completely blocked the track and left a Lamborghini sized gap in the barriers. When these cars crash they seem to crash big, it's very Italian of them. Took about half an hour to fix the barrier with concrete blocks and tyres, Such was the damage they couldn't just replace the armco. Nice cars to watch but not the closest racing.
AutoGP
These are newer A1GP cars, very fast and extremely loud. Didn't race very well but the sound alone was pretty entertaining.
Blancpain Endurance Series
The three hour main event with 57 GT3 cars!
Remarkably clean race with no safety cars considering the large amount of gentleman drivers. Although one of the all Russian crewed Ferrari's was one of the wildest driven cars i have ever seen, on and quite often off track . Race had battles all over the place and some came right down to the wire, one of the Nissan's gained two spots on the last lap to finish fourth. Really enjoyed the whole day, it's one of the best support packages i have seen to date.
Lot's of new liveries to be seen, check them out at the link below
