Re: F1 2011 100% race
Sure do with we could get this up and running on Sundays after the real F1. Can I be the coordinator or co-sponsor of the series? Alternatively, when does GRID2 come out. I hear that will have officially licensed INDY CAR builds. But will it have the tracks? That may be worth a wait for a "follow-along" series if it does not come out too late. I think I heard May.
How can I help get this F1 thing kicked off?

Re: F1 2011 100% race
I'm still up for it. I think the consensus was post the Nein Shiza series and coiciding with the real F1 events.
Think you need to speak to Del or Sniper re setting up a series.

Re: F1 2011 100% race
I have spoken to Del and he is submitting the idea to the group. I'm flying bling here, so I would need an experienced co-pilot or two to run the series, if you thing it's a good idea.
I think we could match the F1 schedule except for two races, which conflict with Nein Shiza. Those could be run a week after the actual race.

Looks like the series has been approved. Just need to work out the details. Any suggestions, comments, wishes? From anyone?

All I will ask is please do not go for Tuesdays or a day that clashes with another series as that could hurt yourselves or something else in terms of numbers etc.

Re: F1 2011 100% race
Sunday afternoons or evenings, after the real F1 race. But not to conflict with the Nein Shiza events. We would only have to move two races back a week. Simple enough.

Re: F1 2011 100% race
I have asked Sniper (who is helping me organize the series) to be the 2nd in command (now really?!?!). Anyway, I'm not sure his schedule will allow, but if not, I'd need a co-manager ("co" being the operative word, since I have zero experience running these things.). I'd also need a Technical Director (Charlie Whiting is unavailable) and Chief Steward all in one person. More on their duties later, but it's basically web stuff and dispute resolution.
The thing needs to get kicked off soon, since the F1 season is upon us and folks would need to purchase the game, possibly. I'd say 6-8 drivers is the minimum. 16 is the maximum. Once I get the official rules up, it's first come first pick for teams.

* Run one week after actual F1 race so as to not conflict with Nein Shiza Endurance Series.
**Different track due to change in schedule, however, approximations were made as tightly as possible.
What assists are allowed incl Damage difficulty and Collision mode?
No Assists Except for Braking Line
Qualifying: No Damage (Sim)
Race: Full Damage
Livery Requirements
These are built into the game. Drivers are required to run their Gamertag in all events.
Points system
Same as actual F1 with World Drivers Champion and Constructors Championship Standings. See official F1 website for more details.
Note: Teams/Drivers with tied or zero points are still ranked at season's end according to F1 rules, based on highest placed finish (followed down places if tied at any given position).
Restart rules
Only restart allowed will be due to lag issues or lag crash within the first five laps. Only one restart per race will be allowed. No restarts for non-lag crashes, regardless of fault, intention, or racing circumstance. Decision will be made at the discretion of the lobby master.
Penalty Rules
Unlike Forza, penalties are handed out quite liberally in Codemasters' F1 2012. Therefore, this series will rely on penalties meted out by the game itself during all races. For instance, drive through penalties for blocking, causing a collision, and unsafe driving are routinely given. You must also give back positions gained that the game deems to be gained by corner cutting.
However, there may be other situations where the game did not take into account a single driver's error (usually on the first lap or so) causing substantial damage to many other drivers. In cases such as these, a panel of three stewards (drivers not involved in the dispute, but who witnessed all or part of it) will accept all evidence from involved parties and be authorized to hand out penalties as follows: warning; 1-10pt. Deduction; qualifying ban; race ban; series ban.

I really wish I hadn't traded my game. Literally traded it the day before you posted this.

Re: F1 2011 100% race
Yea, I think we need a minimum of 6-8 drivers to make this a go. We shall see. March 13th is near. But there is always another series to jump in. And this will have been good practice for me anyway.

Also, just to let you know I won't be able to make the Bahrain GP as I will be on a romantic weekend in Paris. Or, more realistically, arguing all weekend with my wife....

Re: F1 2011 100% race
Ahh Paree. Sounds like just the spot to get falsely romantic. Been there, done that.
I am sorry that you will not have a teammate, but my guess is that we may generate some interest and new drivers as the season progresses. Nothing like a little F1 engine howl to get the blood flowing.
Plus, we really race as individuals anyway. Teams are just kinda there for the constructors championship, which, for now, will duplicate your finish exactly, so right, no drag on your teammate, like I am. Besides, my bet is that the A.I. will be better (especially the Mercedes A.I.) than at least a couple of us, so your "teammate" will stick in our craw plenty, even if his finishing points don't count.
Even with five guys, or even four, I think it will be a blast running around the circuits with a full grid and some live competition. Beats "Career Mode" any day.

Re: F1 2011 100% race
Oh, and by the way Owen...and everyone else. I think the scoring should ignore the A.I. So, if you finish the race, you WILL get points, based on your relative position to the other drivers. Until we get more than 10 drivers, everyone scores!!!! WOohoOO!
